The Good Times Don't Stop: Popeyes transforms its restaurants into Mardi Gras floats

Popeyes is rooted in Louisiana culture, and we want to keep the spirit of Mardi Gras alive this year.

Year after year, Mardi Gras is the most iconic celebration in New Orleans where parades and parties fill the vibrant streets with excitement. This year with the health of residents and tourists being the priority for NOLA, the festivities have officially been cancelled, and while that definitely puts a damper on celebrations it also puts economic strains on the city of NOLA for businesses and individuals with work tied to the celebrations. Everyone from Mardi Gras float artists, designers, builders, sculptors and drivers are feeling the impact of this year’s cancellation.

So Popeyes has hired out of work Mardi Gras artists in NOLA to transform its restaurants into Mardi Gras floats. On Fat Tuesday, February 16th, Popeyes restaurants in New Orleans will be transformed into Mardi Gras parade floats, designed and built by Kern Studios/Mardi Gras World, the pre-imminent New Orleans based event production company that produces the largest parades for Mardi Gras. Each year, Kern Studios employs over 350 artists, sculptors, contractors and drivers for Mardi Gras. The restaurants will help to keep Mardi Gras workers employed while also giving customers the opportunity to experience a little piece of Mardi Gras culture at Popeyes.
