The Story Behind It – Chocolate Chip Biscuit

We’re known for our classic Buttermilk Biscuit, and have seen huge success with  our Strawberry Biscuit, so why fix what isn’t broken and ideate a new variation? Well, to put it simply, we had no other choice.  

Here at Popeyes we are always innovating. How can we continue to make products that are superior to their competition, unique to our brand, high quality and ultimately just delicious?

When the Chocolate Chip Biscuit idea was discussed with the team, we knew we had to jump on it. It was another chance for us to show the world, we’re really that good.  

“Diving into the dessert category with our biscuits was a huge risk. Our guests have come to know and love our buttermilk biscuits as an accompaniment to their meal, or a side. But never did we anticipate that they would want to end their meal with one. That was of course until we launched our strawberry flavor, and well, that changed everything. Once we knew our guests wanted to end their meal with a twist on the flakey and buttery biscuits they had already known and loved, a new door opened for us- dessert biscuits. And what’s a more classic dessert than a chocolate chip cookie? We had to put the Popeyes Spin on this classic cookie, and so we did just that” – Amy Alarcon, VP of Culinary Innovation
